When the Jeep Keeps Going but the Motorhome Says Nope

    August 26, 2025
What began as a two-week off-road adventure in Apache Junction stretched into nearly three, thanks to a cracked motorhome hitch and a botched window repair. We hit the trails with the Escapees Jeepers BOF group near Cottonwood, made new friends with ice cream in the desert heat, and battled trail damage to Rubi. Back at camp, delays from an unprepared glass company and a failing hitch forced us to cancel Flagstaff plans and stay put for emergency repairs. At least Barb got to show off her expert parking skills at Golden Sun.Read More »

Ruby’s Big Milestone: From Rescue Stray to Lap Cat

    July 11, 2025
After finally leaving our Phoenix Airbnb and reclaiming our motorhome after two weeks of repairs, we bounced between Benson, Tucson, and Casa Grande, seizing the chance to explore the deserts that lie between. We had lunches beneath towering saguaros, wandered Trail Dust Town’s dusty boardwalks, and even found comfort at a sunny cat lounge.  We meet a different Ruby, one that warms our hearts!Read More »

Celebrating the Holidays in Pigeon Forge with Family and Friends

    June 16, 2025
We were truly blessed to spend six wonderful weeks in Pigeon Forge celebrating the 2024 Thanksgiving and Christmas season with family and friends. Our immediate four-generation family visited from Minnesota for Thanksgiving, and we had a surprise December visit from dear Wisconsin friends and their crew. This marks the start of our first winter not heading to Disney—instead, we embraced the magic of the Smokies before making our way toward Arizona for the rest of the snow season.Read More »

Colonial Williamsburg and on to North Carolina

    June 16, 2025
After leaving the Washington, D.C. area, we headed to new-to-us areas of Virginia and North Carolina. With a short one-night stop in Williamsburg, we made our way to North Carolina for a week. Along the way, we visited a very disappointing museum and met up with dear friends in the elusive "East" Carolina area.Read More »

Repairs, Airbnb Blues, and a Badge!

    June 15, 2025
Our motorhome spent 10 days in a Phoenix repair shop after damage from a Colorado windstorm. We lived out of an Airbnb guesthouse, counting down the days—where we distracted ourselves with a new Jeep Badge of Honor trail by conquering the trail to Crown King.Read More »
