This was our first holiday away from the family in Our Next Chapter travels. Jason prepared a full traditional Thanksgiving meal of ham (oink, oink), homemade cranberries, green beans and stuffing. Walmart had some amazing pumpkin pie to end it all off. What was missing was spending the time with the families. We made the best of it and since it was a beautiful sunny day in the low 70’s, we had our meal outside! In shorts and a t-shirt!
After our short couple hours stay on Sunday in Kentucky we relocated to Cookeville, TN, to the Spring Valley Mobile Home & RV Park. This location was good for access to the Internet while being on the edge of both the city and a rural feel. The move here was worth all of the hubbub, because Jason had good access to the office for work and we could easily go out and explore from this central point. This campground was very different than St. Louis in that it was so quiet. There was an occasional siren here and there since we were just down the street from the police department, but absolutely nothing like the urban St. Louis feel. Most residents here are full-time parked at this location or are here on a long-term basis. Very few families live here and from what we see are mostly singles or couples that base out of here.
Jason “went to the office” a few hours early one day for training of a police officer on an overnight shift so then his day was done about 2PM. This gave us an opportunity to go out and explore the area at bit. Barb discovered a great little city park a few miles from the campground with a beautiful waterfall. It was so peaceful to sit on the lake and listen to the birds and the rustling leaves. As well as listening to the trickling water babble through the falls.
We will likely make our way back to this area again. There are monthly and weekly rates that are very affordable and include full water, electric and sewer hookups. The park is now more RV’s than mobile homes, but still has a quiet neighborhood feeling.
